[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the operation of the Monastery of Chora as a Muslim mosque

The implementation of Turkey's decision to operate the Chora Monastery in Istanbul as a Muslim mosque violates the UNESCO Convention, which has listed it as a World Heritage Site. As a victim state of the same approach by Turkey for fifty consecutive years, we unequivocally condemn such actions.

We call on the international community to support the preservation of the universal character of such monuments and the protection of religious and cultural heritage.
