The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus informs that early this morning, 42 civilians were successfully evacuated from Ukraine.

The removal of these persons, who were trapped in the centre of Kiev, was successfully organised and executed as a result of the actions of the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in the country and the Crisis Management Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

These persons are in Romania and are scheduled, in consultation with the Greek Government, to leave for Athens by flight from Bucharest.

Among the persons removed from Ukraine are citizens of Cyprus and Greece, Ukrainians with close family ties to Cypriots as well as citizens of EU Member States who have requested consular assistance from the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.

It is noted that among these persons are infants, young children and elderly people, as well as a pregnant woman.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to work to enable the safe and orderly evacuation of all Cypriots.
