[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the meeting held today in the framework of the activation of the Special National Plan ESTIA

In the context of the activation of the Special National ESTIA Plan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Konstantinos Kombos chaired today, Friday, 13 October 2023, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a meeting of the Ministerial Crisis Management Group with the relevant Ministers of Interior Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou, Defence Mr. Michalis Yiorgallas and Justice and Public Order Ms. Anna Koukkidis-Prokopiou. The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, the Minister of Health Ms. Poppy Kanari, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Costas Koumis, the Chief of the General Staff of the National Guard Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, the Chief of Police Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, as well as the services and institutions involved.

The meeting reviewed the situation as it results from the activation of the National Plan "ESTIA" from 10 October until today and in light of the latest developments on the ground in Israel and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

There was also a broad exchange of views in relation to the coordination of all Ministries, Services and Agencies involved.

It is noted that, with the activation of the National Plan "ESTIA", there is a continuous presence of representatives of all services at the "Zenon" Coordination Centre in Larnaca, Paphos Airport and the ports of the Republic of Cyprus.

As of today, Friday, 13 October (12 noon), 268 citizens from European and other countries have arrived, including 8 Cypriot citizens. The activation remains in force as significantly increased needs from other countries are expected in the coming days.
