Cyprus could not remain indifferent to the call of the European Civil Protection Mechanism to send humanitarian aid to the people of Armenia after the recent dramatic events and the displacement of more than 100,000 people from the Nagorno-Karabakh region to Armenia as a result of Azerbaijan's military operation.
Responding to the request, the Republic of Cyprus, after the completion of the acceptance procedures by Armenia, sent yesterday, Tuesday, 16 January 2024, medical supplies (medicines and medical consumables) worth €15,200, which have been offered by the State Health Services Organization (SHSO) for the treatment of refugees who fled to Armenia.
The consignment was sent by air yesterday afternoon on a Cyprus Airways flight, which has offered to cover the transport costs free of charge. We wish to publicly express our sincere thanks for this valuable contribution and hope that our cooperation will extend to other humanitarian actions and initiatives.
