[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Finance on the Tax Repayment Plan for Football Clubs/Companies (New Plan 2023)

With its decision dated 18/05/2023, the Council of Ministers amended the Plan for the Repayment of Tax Debts of Football Clubs/Companies.

The Tax Commissioner is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the terms of the Plan and for this purpose he cooperates with the Cyprus Football Federation (CFF) and provides relevant guidance to the clubs/companies.

The conditions of the Plan with which strict compliance is required are as follows. [/LIST]

In July 2023, a letter was sent by the Tax Commissioner to all clubs/companies and the CFC informing them that they must comply with their obligations, as recorded in the Plan, to gradually repay their debts to the State and to this end the Tax Commissioner will monitor the strict implementation of the terms of the new Plan.

Subsequently, in August 2023, a stern letter was sent by the Tax Collector to those unions/companies that were in arrears, urging them to comply immediately.

In case of non-compliance, the associations/companies are taken out of the Plan, the Tax Department cannot issue a certificate of compliance, the adjustment and reduction of interest and charges granted in advance are cancelled, and all collection and judicial measures provided for by tax law are now applicable.
