[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Defence regarding the confirmation and inauguration of the new Chief of the National Guard

The Ministry of Defence announces that the Council of Ministers, at its meeting today, confirmed the appointment of Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas as Chief of the General Staff of the National Guard, replacing Lieutenant General Demokritos Zervakis.

Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas will officially assume his duties on Friday, 8 September 2023 at 08:00, Armed Forces Day, at a confirmation ceremony to be held at the Presidential Palace.

The military handover ceremony of the National Guard Command will take place in the afternoon of the same day at a camp of the force.
