The Council of Ministers today approved the proposal of the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare to grant a Christmas Gift to the beneficiaries of the Minimum Guaranteed Income, Low Pensioner's Allowance, Honorary Allowance for a Large Mother, Single Parent Family Allowance, and recipients of Public Assistance and other social benefits. The cost of implementing the above Decision amounts to approximately EUR 17.3 million.
Specifically, the Christmas Gift will be granted as follows. To recipients of Minimum Guaranteed Income (MGA) who are eligible in December 2023, an amount corresponding to 80% of their family's basic needs for December 2023. The amount will be paid into the accounts on 13/12/2023.
B. To beneficiaries of the Low Income Pensioners' Household Support Scheme who are not beneficiaries of the EUS or Public Assistance, an amount equal to the amount of the low-income pensioner's allowance for the month of December 2023, with a minimum amount of €100. The amount will be paid to the accounts on 19/12/2023.
C. To the beneficiaries of the 2023 Multi-Mother Honorary Benefit Scheme, an amount of €100. The amount will be paid into the accounts on 18/12/2023.
D. To recipients of Public Assistance, an amount corresponding to 80% of their family's basic needs for December 2023. For those receiving monthly Public Assistance, checks will be mailed on 12/12/2023 with a cashing date of 12/14/2023 or paid into recipients' accounts on 12/14/2023. For those in receipt of exceptional Public Assistance the cheques will be sent on 13/12/2023 with a cashing date of 15/12/2023 or will be paid to the beneficiaries' accounts on 15/12/2023
E. To incarcerated persons, an amount equal to the amount of the incarcerated person's allowance for the month of December 2023. The amount will be paid by cheques which will be sent on 13/12/2023 or by bank transfer on 13/12/2023.
F]F. To the children of interned persons who reside in the occupied territories and attend the Rizokarpaso Kindergarten, Primary School and High School, an amount equal to the allowance to be granted to them for the month of December 2023. The amount will be paid by cheques which will be sent on 13/12/2023 or by bank transfer on 13/12/2023.
G. To the beneficiaries of the Single Parent Family Allowance, who are not beneficiaries of the EAR or Public Assistance, an amount of €100, provided that the gross income of the family for 2022, as calculated under the Child Benefit Law, does not exceed €19,500.00 and the amount of deposits, based on the latest data kept in the Social Benefits Register, does not exceed €10,000.00. The amount will be paid into the accounts on 18/12/2023.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Welfare announces that, in view of the Christmas holidays, the Social Welfare Services (SSS), the Welfare Benefits Administration Service (WSA) and the Department of Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities (DSI) have made all necessary arrangements for earlier payment of allowances and other social benefits, as follows:
