In relation to the publication of the newspaper "Alithia" entitled: "Allegation of corruption in the State Ministry of Culture" which targeted the Deputy Minister of Culture, the Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture and the Advisor to the Deputy Minister, referring to a cover-up and misappropriation of public money, we report the following to restore the truth:

The Auditor General, after a duly conducted investigation, having received copies of all relevant files from the Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture and studied them, concluded that no violation of law or regulation was observed throughout the process of selecting applications to receive a grant from the 2023 Cultural Decentralization Program.

The Auditor General confirmed that the application evaluation process was conducted exclusively at the level of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture, without any involvement of officials or officers of the Administration of the Ministry of State, while an external evaluator participated in the Evaluation Committee to enhance the transparency of the process. It was also noted that both the announcement of the Cultural Decentralisation Programme 2023 and the submission of applications, as well as the appointment of the Evaluation Committee were made before the present Government took office.
