The Department of Postal Services (Cyprus Postal Services) informs the public that recently there have been increased reports of misleading phishing-type messages being sent to mobile phone users, specifically regarding the correction of address details.

Phishing phishing is an act of deception of internet users in which the sender impersonates a trustworthy entity, organisation or person and invites the recipient of the message to follow the instructions given.

These instructions may ask the recipient to follow an electronic link and/or to provide their data, such as sensitive private information, passwords, identity or passport details, bank account, bank card and others.

Citizens are advised to be particularly careful, however plausible the sender and/or the messages they receive may appear, so as not to fall victim to fraudsters who operate in this way.

Finally, it should be noted that payments are not directed to the JCCSmart online payment platform, but to another e-mail address.
