The Department of Postal Services informs the public that recently there have been increased reports of misleading phishing-type emails being sent, specifically regarding the filling in of recipient and address details and payment of a small amount.
The phishing is an act of deception against internet users, in which the sender impersonates a trustworthy entity, organisation or person, inviting the recipient of the message to follow the instructions given.
These instructions may ask the recipient to follow an electronic link or to provide data such as sensitive private information, passwords, identity or passport details, bank account, bank card and others.
Citizens are advised to be particularly careful, however plausible the sender or the messages they receive may appear, so as not to fall victim to fraudsters who operate in this way.
Finally, it is noted that payments are not directed to the JCCSmart online payment platform nor to the Department's website www.cypruspost.post, but to another e-mail address.
