The Contract for the Construction of the Wastewater Sewerage System in nine Refugee Settlements located in the wider urban and suburban area of Limassol.
The contract was signed on behalf of SLA by the Mayor of Limassol and President of SLA Mr. Nikos Nicolaides and on behalf of the Contractor by the Executive Director of MEDCON CONSTRUCTION LTD Mr. Stefanos Pierides and the President and CEO of TEKAL S.A. Mr. Panayiotis Psaltakos.
The event was attended by the President of the Parliamentary Committee for Refugees, the President of the Pancyprian Committee for Refugees, MPs, Mayors, members and executives of the Council, state officials, representatives of bodies and authorities of the city of Limassol and representatives of the mass media.
The aim of the project is to connect nine refugee settlements with the Public Sewerage System and provides for the construction of a network with a total length of approximately 44 km. The value of the contract amounts to €12.8 million plus VAT and is financed from national resources (Department of Water Development, Department of Urban Planning and Zoning and SALA).
Construction work will start around the end of October 2023 and is planned to last 30 months.
