In response to statements and publications regarding the reliability of molecular tests carried out in our country and their cost, the Ministry of Health clarifies the following:
1. All consumables used in Cyprus for Covid-19 testing meet the strictest standards set by the European Centre for Infectious Diseases (ECDC) and are licensed in Europe and used in most European countries.
2. In order to make an objective comparison of the costs of molecular testing in different countries, various factors and parameters should be taken into account, such as competitive procedures and the policy developed by each country to offer services to citizens in order to prevent a pandemic.
3. Cyprus ranks among the pioneering countries in terms of managing the health crisis, as synergies and collaborations between the public and private sectors were established to secure the necessary resources and expertise to make reliable molecular testing for COVID-19 available to citizens.
