The promotion of the nursing profession was the focus of a meeting today between Health Minister Dr. Popi Kanari and Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Ms. Athena Michaelidou, in the presence of officials of the two ministries.

During the meeting, Dr Kanari presented a plan to promote the nursing profession, which was prepared by the Ministry of Health and aims to address the problem of the shortage of nurses.

As decided during the meeting, the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Universities and other stakeholders, will proceed in early 2024, to carry out an awareness campaign to attract new nursing students in the next academic year (2024 - 2025). The aim of the campaign is to properly inform both secondary school students and the citizens of the country about the profession of nursing.

At the same time, in the context of today's meeting of the two ministers, it was agreed to organize additional educational seminars in schools on diabetes mellitus. The aim is to ensure that teachers are properly informed in order to be able to deal immediately with incidents involving children with diabetes mellitus.

Finally, the two ministers exchanged views on issues related to the promotion of the profession of Health Care Provider.
