The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with the private operators of the Limassol Port, for the implementation of significantly smaller increases than those foreseen in the Concession Agreements, which will be combined with the repayment by the State of the loan of 5 million euros.

The charges for the works requiring the employment of dockers will have smaller increases than the 16.62% increase announced in the previous period and foreseen under the provisions of the Concession Contract.

The charges for the works requiring the employment of dockers will have smaller increases than the 16.62% increase announced in the previous period and foreseen under the provisions of the Concession Contract. Depending on the cargo, the charges will increase by an average of 5.87% for the Container Terminal and by approximately 9.8% for the Commercial Terminal. The agreement reached covers all charges that affect the import and export of goods and, consequently, the local economy.

At the same time, the Ministry of Transport and the three managing companies have agreed to start a dialogue to diversify the indexation of charges to make it more representative of port activities.

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yannis Karousos, welcomes the successful conclusion of the consultations between the parties involved and thanks the companies for their constructive attitude.

According to Mr. Karousos, reaching an agreement shows the Government's determination to take all those actions in order to significantly limit the increases that were initially announced.

In the framework of the cooperation that has been developed, the two parties will remain in consultation and understanding, with the aim of resolving other issues concerning the smooth operation of the Port of Limassol.
