The first amendment welcomes the "Amalthea" initiative opening a sea corridor for the provision of emergency humanitarian aid to Gaza, with the support of a number of countries and the European Commission in cooperation with the UN High Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction for Gaza.

In supporting the amendment, Ms. Charalambidou said that the dire humanitarian situation of Palestinian civilians necessitates the need to further support international relief efforts. She expressed appreciation for the assistance of the United States for the construction of the floating pier used by ships to unload humanitarian aid, and to all other countries for their contributions.

She stressed that the Mediterranean dimension should be further strengthened in the work of the OSCE CSO.
