Dear Hermione,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In this place, where art reigns supreme, allow me to address a short greeting on behalf of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, honoring the artist of many scrolls, Mrs. Hermione Zachariadou, an artist whose art is reflected in nine solo exhibitions and participation in many group exhibitions both in Cyprus and abroad.

Her works adorn state and private collections, with the work purchased by the Bishop of Achaia, permanent representative of the Greek Church in the European Union, in Brussels, being worthy of mention. There are also many references to her work in the printed and electronic press.

As Minister of Justice and Public Order, my first and main concern is to ensure in every way the sense of security of citizens. We as a Ministry, dear Hermione, care for the physical safety of citizens and you as an artist care for their spiritual and mental safety through your art.

It was with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation to inaugurate Ms. Zachariadou's painting exhibition entitled "Portraits of Saints of the 20th Century", an exhibition accompanied by a book with the paintings and biographies of the Saints, where the art lover can also become a reader.

I would like to confess my ignorance of the secrets of your art in order to make some kind of commentary evaluation So I will content myself with just a few thoughts as a simple observer and admirer of your work.

Looking at the portraits of contemporary Saints, Ascetics and Saints of the Orthodox Church, Greeks, Cypriots, Cypriots, Pontians, Russians, Ukrainians and Serbs, I see people who have dedicated their lives to Christ. I see enlightened souls who have helped through their word and spirituality a multitude of believers and unbelievers alike.

These are figures that are pictorially differentiated from the strict Byzantine way of presentation and style, with intense colors, especially around the divine faces, and almost vivid depiction of expressions and eyes, urging us to read the holiness of their souls.

Hermione's need to capture detail in whatever material she works with is evident, whether she uses acrylic, pastel oil or pencils.

Finally, it is noteworthy that these figures are found in an intimate environment whether it is the interior of a temple, an office or even a forest, but not rigid and "hard", but humanly given to everyday moments such as talking, conversing or praying.

With these few words and personal assessments and thoughts I would like to congratulate the artist for her work and in general for her contribution to the cultural life of our country.

Thank you, dear Hermione, for your unique contribution to the artistic events of our country and I wish you every success in the exhibition.
