I am delighted to be among you today at the excellent event organised by the National Committee for Rare Diseases of the Ministry of Health under the eloquent title "We are all rare". This event is an important opportunity for all of us to join together and highlight the importance of attention and support for those facing rare diseases.

In every corner of our country there are people who battle every day with diseases that are rare in appearance but not worthy of our attention. It is our duty as a society to stand alongside them, provide them with the support and care they need and work to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs as citizens are understood.

In this context, the government has taken specific initiatives to improve care and support for people with rare diseases.

The Department of Health, and through the General Health System, supports the provision of holistic health care services specifically for patients with rare diseases. We work closely with specialist health professional teams, ensuring not only diagnosis and treatment but also the psychosocial support required, as the challenges faced by patients with rare diseases are unique and require multidisciplinary collaboration and support from all of us.

However, the challenges are not only administrative or legislative but also social. We need a real change of mindset and attitude towards people with rare diseases. We need understanding and solidarity.

Friends

To conclude my short address, I would like to express my admiration for the work done by the National Committee for Rare Diseases and thank all stakeholders for their presence in this field today. We are all together in this effort, which aims to create an environment in which each person receives personalised health care according to their needs and receives all the psychosocial support required by the course of their disease.

So today I invite you to join forces and commit to creating a society that treats diversity with respect and love.

Let us work together for a future where no one will feel alone in their struggle.

Let us work together for a future where no one will feel alone in their struggle.

Let us work together for a future where no one will feel alone in their struggle.

Let us work together for a future where no one will feel alone in their struggle.
