On behalf of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, it is with great pleasure that I address the 8th Physiotherapy Conference organised today by the Pancyprian Association of Physiotherapists.
Dear physiotherapists,
Your role in the rehabilitation of patients is crucial because you promote mobility and contribute to general well-being. And your proactive approach is crucial in preventing injuries. "Key" to providing excellent patient care is the continuous enrichment of knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals. For this reason, the Branch of Physiotherapy - like all professions related to the provision of health services - is inextricably linked to lifelong learning.
The scientific programme of the 8th Congress is clearly multi-dimensional. The primary objective is to broaden the skills of the participants with the ultimate aim of upgrading the Physiotherapy services provided to patients in the country.
This two-day Conference is an important pillar of training and education on current developments in the Physiotherapy sector. The continuous revolution in the broader field of medical science and possible new therapeutic approaches could not leave the therapeutic work of Physiotherapists unaffected. Specifically, in terms of physiotherapy services, the GHS offers beneficiaries between 6 and 12 sessions per year, depending on the disease and the needs of each patient. These sessions provide both physiotherapy assessment of the patient and the carrying out of therapeutic activities. In addition, all beneficiaries are entitled to requests for additional visits to meet specialised needs. In addition, a registry of neurological patients has been established which assigns beneficiaries an individualized number of treatments per year.
Friends,
The work in the following Round Tables, the lectures as well as the discussions among the attendees are an irreplaceable opportunity for a productive and fruitful exchange of knowledge and experiences. The Ministry of Health welcomes the organisation of conferences worthy of today's event. Congratulations to all those involved who devoted a lot of time to bring this Scientific Conference to fruition.
In conclusion, I would like to highlight once again the importance of the role of the Physiotherapist both in the context of rehabilitation and recovery, as well as in the context of prevention. Keep up your great work for the benefit of citizens' health.
I wish you every success in the important work of your conference.
