It is with great joy, deep emotion and immense pride that we are gathered here today for the newly appointed ceremony of confirmation of the new students at the Higher Military Educational Institutions and the Higher Military Schools of Non-Commissioned Officers of Greece.
New students,
Sensing the heavy responsibility and the sacred duty with which we are charged as Greeks of Cyprus towards our semi-occupied homeland, our ancestors and our History, I express my warmest congratulations for your success in being accepted for admission to the productive schools of Greece and I wish you a good and constructive study.

We, your parents and your own people have just been proud to see you give the newly made pledge of loyalty to your country. Your families and loved ones, who have been helpers and supporters in your journey, feel deeply proud of you. As proud, you should know, we all feel the same way.
Today's ceremony is the culmination and the best recompense and reward for the efforts, sacrifices and efforts you have made over the years as students.

You have chosen to wear the honoured military uniform and serve the highest mission of defending freedom and safeguarding the territorial integrity, sovereign rights and security of the Republic of Cyprus.
The most precious asset of security is what allows our state to function properly and move on a path of development and prosperity. Together, security and the ability of deterrent power helps the political leadership to assert the fairness and rights of our people and, finally, helps our people to create and progress.
So, be proud and proud of the opportunity given to you to defend the freedom and security of our Homeland.
Bearing in mind that National Guard personnel are the tip of our spear, I urge you to make the most of all the resources, experience and knowledge you will receive from your schools of study.
With seriousness, consistency, discipline, responsibility and a willingness to acquire knowledge and develop skills and abilities, set high goals and pursue development, progress and excellence.
Strengthen your character with the military virtues of philanthropy, courage, fortitude, fortitude, military spirit and discipline.

I assure you that the path you will take will not be easy. On the contrary, it will be difficult and demanding.
You will be called upon to lead with determination, to act autonomously, to demonstrate responsibility, self-control, discipline, zeal, perseverance and patience. You will face challenges. Use them as opportunities. Keep your head up and your eyes on your future. The future belongs to you.

Dear prospective students,
The National Guard, aiming to become a modern and reliable army of high capabilities, with full competence and ability to ensure the defense and sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus, is being modernized, strengthened, upgraded and improved.
As long as our Homeland is under occupation and in danger, we will continue to upgrade our combat power and enhance our deterrent capability, while conspicuously stating the obvious. That we are determined to fight and defend what is in danger and to claim what belongs to us.
You too will be called upon to play an important role in the security of the homeland in a few years' time.
In this effort, you can be absolutely certain that the political and military leadership will always be at your side.
Stating that you will successfully meet the high demands of your schools and confirm your personal expectations, as well as those of the state and your families, I wish each and every one of you individually good health, personal and family happiness, blessings in your lives, courage and strength to achieve your goals.
