It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to greet this beautiful event for children, on the eve of the great Christmas holiday, on behalf of the President of the Republic, who could not attend due to prior commitments. I would like to warmly congratulate the organisers for their excellent initiative, because it is very important to hold events with a focus on children, offering generously, in addition to the trees, the other gifts: love and joy.
It is very important to mention trees and forests in general, since, especially during the Christmas season, every home, all over the world, has a decorated tree. Along with other Christmas customs, they add to the significance and spirit of these joyous days.
Trees and forests play a multifaceted role not only in our country, but also globally. It is well known that forest ecosystems are the crown jewel of the natural environment, contributing to the environmental, social, cultural and economic development of our country. It is also very important to continue the protection and sustainable development of forests, so that the benefits of this management can continue to be generously offered to the citizens of this place.
In conclusion, I would like to congratulate once again the organisers for their excellent initiative which promotes the development of environmental awareness and to convey the warm wishes of the President of the Republic, as well as mine, to all of you and especially to our little friends for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
