[PIO] A workshop on "Troodos, the rural farmer and the future of the Cypriot rural economy" was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment in cooperation with the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality and the Council of Economy and Competitiveness held yesterday, 11 November 2023, a workshop on "Troodos, the rural farmer and the future of the Cypriot rural economy", at the Rhodon Hotel, in Agros.

The aim of the workshop was to highlight the role of the Troodos woman and to express appreciation and determination to promote policies and initiatives aimed at further developing the primary sector. During the workshop, which was held in the presence of the Minister of Rural Development and Food of Greece, Mr. Eleftherios Avgenakis, the actions of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 were presented.

As the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Mr. Petros Xenophontos stressed in his address to the conference, Troodos, the farmer and the sustainability of the countryside are a priority for the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. The policies and funding tools and the legislative framework which the Ministry implements set as objectives, among others, the strengthening and reinforcement of the Cypriot rural economy.
