On Friday, 18 March 2022, at 10.00 a.m., the 23rd Session of the House of Elders will take place at the Filoxenia Conference Centre, under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Anita Demetriou, at the 23rd Session of the House of Elders.
The House of Representatives, aiming at its healthy interaction with society, supports activities that enhance citizenship, participatory democracy, pluralism and transparency and is interested in highlighting various problems of civil society for which the members of the House of Representatives, as representatives of the people, seek solutions. It is in this context that the Cyprus Parliament supports the institution of the House of Elders.
The institution of the House of Elders, which is managed by the Pancyprian Coordinating Council for Volunteerism, aims to ensure the quality of the services offered to our elderly, especially to ensure their inalienable right to live in dignity as people who have contributed to society, as well as to formulate policies that will effectively support the elderly.
The 23rd session of the House of Elders will be addressed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives at 10.00 a.m. The President of the Pancyprian Coordinating Council for Volunteerism and the Coordinating Body of the House of Elders Mr. Elias Demetriou, the Director General of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance Mr. Andreas Avraamidis on behalf of the Minister, the Director General of the Ministry of Health Dr. Christina Vasiliou Giannaki on behalf of the Minister, the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Ms. In the same context, the reports of the Social Welfare Committee and the Health Committee of the House of Elders on the topic "The Third Age in front of the Spectre of the Crown" will be discussed and approved.
