An alternative route for the flow of Russian gas to Europe is proposed by Ukraine, in order to expose Russia which invokes technical reasons to reduce energy flows in order to excessively increase prices. Kiev has announced through the relevant state body that the Ukrainian pipeline network running to Poland can maintain Europe's energy sufficiency which is again threatened by the imminent interruption of Russian gas supplies to Nord Stream 1.
"The capacities of the Ukrainian gas transmission system and the route through Poland are more than enough to ensure the fulfillment of Russian gas delivery obligations to European countries," the operator of the Ukrainian gas pipeline network specifically announced in Kiev on Friday evening.
The alternative route is a good option "in view of the chronic interruptions in Nord Stream 1 operations," Kiev also says, which is attempting an economic, diplomatic and political maneuver against Moscow's policy towards European states.
Russian gas giant Gazprom had announced on Friday that it would stop gas flow through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline in the Baltic Sea for maintenance work from August 31 to September 2.
As is known, only 20 percent of the pipeline's capacity is currently used.
