YouTube[/B] is immediately blocking access worldwide to channels associated with Russian state-funded media, the company said Friday, citing a policy that prohibits content that denies or trivializes well-documented violent facts.
The world's most-used video streaming service, owned by Google's Alphabet Inc, said Russia's invasion of Ukraine now falls under its violent events policy.
"Our Community Guidelines prohibit content that denies, minimizes or trivializes well-documented violent events and we are removing content about the Russian invasion of Ukraine that violates this policy," said spokesman Farshad Shadloo."
"In line with this, effective immediately, we are also blocking YouTube channels related to Russian state-sponsored media, globally."
