[Cyprus Times] #Youth Empowered: finding a job through social media

The interest of students, graduates and young people in the #YouthEmpowered[/B] programme proved to be particularly strong for another year, which is co-organized this year by CocaColaHBC Cyprus, the Career Centre and the Department of Business and Public Administration of the University of Cyprus.

The educational initiative of CocaColaHBC Cyprus, which became an institution in 2017, returned this year with a physical presence at the University of Cyprus, to offer knowledge, skills, networking and mentoring to young people aged 18-30 and to empower them to pursue meaningful employment opportunities in an ever changing labour market.

This year's programme, launched on 19 October with the Green thematic session dedicated to Sustainability and the Circular Economy, continued in a dynamic way on 2 November with the Blue thematic session "LinkedInA Big Opportunity". The distinguished Communication and Marketing consultant and Trainer George Zervidis, explained to the young people the contribution of the LinkedIn tool in finding a job and personal branding! The participants had the opportunity to understand why LinkedIn is not only important, but essential for the modern job market and how employers use it to find human resources. During the workshop, each participant created his/her own account on this platform, under the experienced guidance of Mr. Zervidis.

Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus' pioneering #Youth Empowered Programme continues on Wednesday 9 November with the Yellow thematic session, which is dedicated to social media and content creation. Under the guidance of renowned executives of the business world, but also with new faces, particularly popular among the new generation Z, young people will learn about the role of social media and the importance of personal branding in the job search.

Digital Image Strategy Manager of The Coca Cola Company Europe, Giorgos Xanthakis will thoroughly analyze the dynamics of personal branding through social media. Participants will learn the importance of personal brand management on major platforms, as an effective job search tool.

Then, the founder of OnTime Media, and a pioneer in the field of podcasting in Cyprus, Yiannos Tran will analyse the topical issue of content creation. The Cypriot content creator, will give useful advice on how content uploaded to platforms can become the 'key' to success in the modern era and how this could act as the competitive advantage for a product or even personal brand.



In the spotlight, 3 successful social media advocates from Cyprus come to give inspiration through their own personal stories, who will share with the participants the obstacles they were asked to overcome, as well as the experiences they gained on their journey as influencers. Stephanie Pericleous[/URL]: Stephanie is a brand in her own right. Her artistic nature combined with her technology and hard work makes her one of the absolute pioneers in Tik Tok in Cyprus and beyond. Her Tik Tok account has over 700 thousand followers from both Cyprus and abroad.

What's remarkable - she is only 19 years old and already lists major collaborations with world renowned brands.

Pan Dragomir: Pan during the coronavirus period started a comedy account on Tik Tok that today counts 98k followers and this initiative apart from her online success opened the door for her to collaborations with well-known brands and companies in Cyprus, while at the same time led her to her next station as a presenter on a well-known TV show alongside Louis Patsalidis.

The company could not be missing the solo traveller initially and now entrepreneur Andreas Tomazou. Andreas started travelling alone and presenting his experience on Social Media. His perseverance has brought him a lot of success on social media as he has gathered over 60 thousand followers. Through his travels and experiences, Andrew then founded the Burger Guy chain with now 2 stores in Cyprus and expanded the same brand recently to the United Arab Emirates. The 29 year old young man is full of zest for life and ready to share his experiences and lessons learned with the University of Cyprus Student Community and any young person who wishes to see and hear him.
