Around 8.30 last night, members of the "Z" Team of the Paphos Traffic Police Department, while conducting traffic controls on Archiepiskopou Makarios Avenue, in Chloraka, stopped a 24-year-old motorcycle driver for control.

The motorcyclist did not have a driver's license, was not covered by a certificate of insurance for riding the motorcycle, and was not wearing a protective helmet.

A check of the motorcycle's documents revealed that, its registration had been cancelled in April, 2017, since its registration had expired three years earlier, in April, 2014, and that it was registered with the Department of Road Transport as immobilized, as of July, 2021. In addition, the motorcycle had no registration plates and had no running lights on the rear.

The 24-year-old was then subjected to a drug test after exhibiting obvious signs and symptoms of drug use. The preliminary drug test to which he was subjected was positive and samples were taken from him for laboratory drug testing.

The Paphos Traffic Police Department is continuing the tests.
