Yannis Bezos[/B] was a guest on Tasos Tryfonos' show and talked about more personal issues, about his collaboration with the late Aliki Vougiouklaki and how he sees what has happened with Petros Filippidis.
The death of his parents
Speaking about his parents, the actor revealed that both of them passed away when he was acting in the theatre. When I heard about my father's death, I played in the evening and to my mother it was some years later, arriving in Trikala to play my wife called me and said he was gone, I played in the evening and went to the funeral the next day. Both cases, of course, were not something sudden, it was something I expected," Yannis Bezos said.
The negative comments
The actor was also asked about the negative comments he receives from time to time. "They never made me back down. There is a truth that you have to say them, but always in a way. Many times I might have said some things a bit rudely, but I never lied. You have to know when you say it, the way you say it, so that it takes root, otherwise it creates friction. I don't blame friends who disagree with me, even those who are very vocal against me. I would tell you that those who are most intense towards me are the ones who understand that I speak the truth and it bothers them the most."
His collaboration with Aliki Vougiouklaki
Talking about his acquaintance and collaboration with the late Aliki Vougiouklaki, he reveals that she was very generous with him. "Aliki wanted to get away from all the noise around her, but she couldn't, because after so many years and so much power, she couldn't. Aliki embodied a role model that Greek society needed. She gave him a smile that was missing. The world needed laughter. Aliki embodied this very well, she worked very hard at it and couldn't escape. She was very generous with me in my first steps in acting. Alice was more interesting behind the scenes, more than in the foreground," he said.
On #metoo
Elsewhere he referred to #metoo and the tsunami of carangels: "The very intense ones that popped up no one knew about them and no one could have known about them. I feel bad and embarrassed but there is a behaviour that has existed and will continue which to me is unacceptable. Many times it is dismissive, there is an abuse of the position you have. The big bet is how you treat the weak. I don't know if these actors who have been accused will have a second chance, I would like them to have a second chance because I think everyone should have one. I will defend the victims but on the other hand I cannot condemn everyone."
About Petros Filippidis
Finally he mentioned the case of Petros Filippidis about whom he said that he is paying his price. "I was very sad and I am still sad. On the other hand, I cannot justify these attitudes. It doesn't take much to get to this level. We're all, in a way, exposed to it, this job in particular which is so glamorous and sometimes you can have demons chasing you. It's everyone's personal thing and I can't get into Peter's soul, nor can I be the judge. But he should have done his self-criticism many, many years ago. He is already paying his price. I can't forgive anyone, but I can't condemn anyone either."
The actor then commented on the statement made by Petros Filippidis that the two of them are the best actors in Greece. "I didn't like it when he had said that the two of us are the best actors in Greece and I had already told him that. It's not nice to say about ourselves, I never say, as you know."
