Those recruits of the 2022 ESSO who register electronically will be credited with ten additional points, while at the same time they will also have the opportunity to register their wish as to where they want to enlist,Cyprus Times spokesman for the Ministry of National Defence, Christos Pieris, told the Cyprus Times.

Those who do not register online, he explained, will be at a disadvantage as they will not be able to serve in the Special Forces of the National Guard, will not be able to compete for Reserve Officer Cadets, will not be able to apply for a place in the SMEF, nor will their wishes for the arms and the corps where they want to serve be taken into account.

The online platform for enlistment of recruits has been operational since April 27 and the process will be completed on May 15.

"The enlistment will be held from July 11 to 15. Recruits will report to the enlistment centres and leave on the same day for the units where they will serve their term. They do not need to travel in their personal cars, as they will be transported by National Guard vehicles," Pieris noted.

As he stressed, the National Guard will inform the recruits electronically about the places and times of their enlistment.

Asked about the protective measures against covid disease and whether they continue to be observed within the camps, he pointed out that all the protocols of the Ministry of Health are strictly applied, and noted that the National Guardsmen will not wear a mask if they are outdoors, always observing the necessary protective distances.

To assist recruits in completing online applications, the 1430 Enlistment Support Center[/B] is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
