Marianna from Ukraine is, for her compatriots, the starkest proof of the brutality displayed by Russian troops during their invasion of Ukrainian territory. The photograph of her emerging bloodied from a maternity hospital in Mariupol, which has just been bombed, shocked international public opinion, strongly highlighting a cruel and inhuman aspect of the humanitarian tragedy experienced by Ukrainians.

A quick browse through her page reveals that before the war, Marianna worked as a beautician. She advertised the products she sold through social media and the Telegram communication network.
In her last posted photo she poses showing off her bulging belly, proof that the time was approaching to give life to the little creature inside her. In another photo she poses with her partner, days before the Russian nightmare invaded their lives.

Ukrainian journalist Olga Tokariuk wrote on Twitter that she was informed by a relative of Marianna who told her that she managed to contact her and that last night at 10 o'clock, the young beautician gave birth to her baby girl. "It's very cold and the bombings don't stop" were Marianna's last words in the brief communication she had with her relative, Olga Tokariuk wrote.
