Preliminary examination to investigate the circumstances under which the incident took place

A scandal has been caused in recent hours by the short film entitled "Xeparthenon", where a couple of men have sex on the Acropolis. Following questions from journalists about the video containing scenes "which were filmed illegally at the Acropolis archaeological site," the Culture Ministry issued a statement clarifying the situation.

According to the Culture Ministry, "for the specific scenes apparently no permission has been given by the competent services of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The archaeological site of the Acropolis is not offered for any kind of activist or other activity, which insults and behaves disrespectfully to the monument.

By order of the Minister of Culture and Sports to the Head of the Athens City Antiquities Ephorate, a preliminary examination is being conducted, in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Status of Public Civil Servants, in order to investigate the circumstances under which the incident took place and to attribute responsibility."
