Written statement by Deputy Government Spokesperson Niobi Parisinou on the meeting of the President of the Republic with the competent bodies of the GHS Common will of all is to ensure the sustainability of the GHS Weaknesses and abuses in the GHS... Leave the "voices" and go to consultation to solve the problems
The President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades chaired today, at the Presidential Palace, a meeting with all relevant bodies on the GESY.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Finance and Health, the Auditor General, the Assistant Attorney General, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, the Presidents of OAY and OKYPY and officials.
According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Nivi Parisinou, "during the meeting weaknesses and issues that need immediate regulation were identified, such as, among others, the strict compliance with the legislation concerning the budgets of both the General Health Insurance Fund and the National Health Insurance Fund, but also the need to strengthen control mechanisms to combat abuses. The relationship between the OAS and the SHI and the ways of regulating the obligations of the OAS to further cover the State's obligations related to SHI issues and, most importantly, to ensure the sustainability of the GHS were discussed."
Ms Parissinou notes that "the contribution of both the Attorney General's Office and the Auditor General on ways to address the weaknesses that have been identified or gaps that have been identified was important, so that the necessary decisions can be taken to effectively address and ensure the sustainability of the GHS".
It was decided that there should be consultation between OAS and the Legal Service to address the problems identified, as well as consultation between OAS and OCPS with the Auditor General in order to effectively address the controls to be carried out to avoid any potential abuses.
On the recommendation of the President of the Republic, it was decided that the direct consultation between OAS and OCYPY with the Attorney General and the Auditor General and the Ministries of Finance and Health should be carried out in order to address the pathologies in the implementation of the legislation relating to the GHS.
What was noted during the meeting was the determination of the Presidents of the OAI and OCYPY, the Ministries involved, as well as the Legal Service and the Audit Service to engage in the coming weeks in a creative dialogue to address the weaknesses and problems that have been identified.
The common will of all is to ensure the sustainability of the YESY, one of the most important of the reforms concerning the health of all the people.
The President of the Republic called on all those involved to engage in immediate consultations to find solutions to existing problems or weaknesses, stressing his determination not to accept in any way any alteration of the philosophy of the GHS, a system that is the greatest conquest of the citizens.
He also set a new meeting within two months to ascertain compliance with what has been identified or agreed upon at today's meeting.
