We honour and respect the institution of the Archbishop, says the Metropolitan of Tamassos Comments on his disagreements with hierarchs and publications referring to the archbishop elections

The Church of Cyprus "has a primate, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II and I wish God to grant him health, many years and strength to continue his work", says Metropolitan Isaias of Tamassos and Orini, noting that "e honour, as we ought to, and respect the institution of the Archbishop".

Referring to recent reports, with references to archbishop elections and his disagreements with other Hierarchs, the Metropolitan of Tamassos says that "all Hierarchs have a flock that is loving and sympathetic to each one of us, and when asked, they express themselves favourably about the work that is being done in our Metropolises".

He adds that "this is a normal reaction, since we are in their midst every day, ministering and working among them".

"As Metropolitan of the Church of Cyprus, first and foremost I respect and strongly support the Autocephaly of our local Church, enshrined for centuries and ratified by the 8th Rule of the Third Ecumenical Council," the Metropolitan continues.

He notes that "at the same time, we honor, as we ought to, and respect the institution of the Archbishop, and the last meeting of the Holy Synod, I confess, confirmed the good climate and the excellent cooperation that prevails among all the Hierarchs, no one excluded."

Tamasou Isaiah also states that "creative disagreements, when they arise, are legitimate and always lead to a liturgical and sincere cooperation in every institution, while the guiding principle of all is the prevalence of Love in Christ, peace, mutual respect and unreserved cooperation both within the boundaries of our local Church and more broadly among all Orthodox".

"I am happy that my relationship with all members of the Holy Synod is excellent and creative," the statement concludes."
