We have a long way to go to change attitudes that stand in the way of full equality, says Drakou She assured that she has put equality issues high on her priorities
We have a long way to go to change attitudes that stand in the way of full equality and this takes time, perseverance and continuous effort, said Justice Minister Stefi Drakou, accepting on Thursday the title of distinguished member awarded to her by the Pancyprian Equal Rights Equal Responsibilities Movement , at an event on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Mrs. Drakou said that through the Ministry's Equality Unit and the National Mechanism for Women's Rights there are special Sponsorship Schemes aimed at encouraging community groups, such as the Pancyprian Movement "Equal Rights - Equal Responsibilities", to carry out actions and campaigns for equality.
She assured that she has placed equality issues very high on her priorities and will continue to work methodically to create an equal and just society.
The Minister was first a member and then Vice-President of the Movement's Council.
