The decision was taken to allow humanitarian aid to reach the areas that have been ruthlessly bombed
The ceasefire in Mariupol and Volnovaka was imposed by Russia after ten days of hostilities in Ukraine.
As reported by Reuters quoted by Interfax, the ceasefire, which includes the bombing will start today at 10:00 Moscow time (9 Cyprus time). The mayor of Mariupol warned earlier that the city has been "blocked" by Russian forces and called for a humanitarian corridor to allow civilians to leave safely.
In this context, the ceasefire will begin at 9:00 Cyprus time to allow humanitarian corridors to leave the Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Volnovaka. Mayor Vadym Boychenko has previously stated that the city has no water, heating or electricity and that food supplies are low.
The Russians have completely blockaded Mariupol
The Russian siege however continues unabated with the latest development being the complete blockade of Mariupol. The strategic port of Mariupol, in eastern Ukraine, remains under siege, suffering a "blockade" by the Russian army and "relentless" attacks, the city's mayor denounced today, calling for a humanitarian corridor
