The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which connects Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea, is also included in the sanctions
The EU has prepared a "robust and comprehensive" package of sanctions against Russia in case Moscow continues its aggression against Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told German newspaper Handelsblatt and French newspaper Les Echos.
"We have prepared a robust and comprehensive package of economic and financial sanctions," von der Leyen explained, adding that the sanctions include "restrictions on access to foreign capital" and "export controls, especially on technical products."
The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which connects Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea, is also included in the sanctions. Whether this pipeline will come into operation depends "on Russia's behaviour," the Commission president said.
