Dramatic times for Kiev residents as Russian missiles "hit" apartment blocks and buildings where civilians live.

A video released early this morning by the Belarusian media outlet Nexta shows an apartment building "hit" by a missile and extensively damaged, while the entire area is "drowned" in a cloud of smoke.

The network reports that there were no reports of deaths or injuries, but the desperate voice of a woman in the background is indicative of the climate in the Ukrainian capital in recent hours.

Russians tried to bring maximum amount of equipment to Kiev, Zelensky adviser says

About the situation in Kiev on Saturday morning, senior adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky, Mihailo Podolyak, spoke out, stressing that Russian forces tried "to bring the maximum amount of equipment into the city."

But, he said, "at the moment, the situation in the suburbs and the surrounding area is under control."

Speaking to Ukrainian television, he said there are "separate saboteur and reconnaissance groups" in the city, but Ukrainian police and territorial self-defense units are "actively working against them."

Earlier on Saturday, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry warned Kiev residents that street fighting was underway and urged them to seek shelter and stay indoors. Gunfire was heard near the city center before dawn, after several hours of loud explosions in and around the capital.

Podolyak also attempted to see the next day, that of negotiations with Russia, stressing that "I don't think that after what is happening now, Ukraine is in a weak position." "Even if the negotiation process starts, and it is going to start, Ukraine will set conditions."

Another spokesman for the Ukrainian president, Sergei Nikyforov, said late Friday that Ukraine "was and remains ready to talk about a ceasefire and peace." "The sooner negotiations start, the more chances we have to resume normal life," he added."
