Car theft investigated by police in Larnaca Police advice for preventing car theft incidents
The theft of a car, which was left by its owner parked with the keys in the engine's ignition, is being investigated by police in Larnaca district.
According to the complaint submitted to the police last night by the 56-year-old owner of the car, the vehicle, worth 1800 euros, was stolen between 4.00 in the afternoon and 8.30 in the evening of Wednesday, from a parking lot in the area of Faneromeni, in Larnaca. He had parked the car in the area, leaving the keys in the engine starter.
The Police, for the purpose of preventing similar incidents of theft, addresses recommendations to the public, owners and responsible drivers of vehicles, such as when parking their vehicle, even in case of a short stop, to remove the keys, fully close the windows, and lock the vehicle.
It is worth noting that the failure to take protective security measures and to keep the keys and the vehicle itself constitutes an offence, particularly where, as a result of the negligent keeping of the vehicle, another person illegally gains possession and illegally drives the vehicle.
