In Nicosia, US Assistant Secretary of State will meet with Kasoulides and attend the signing of a Cooperation Agreement
Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will continue his contacts with the American factor tomorrow Friday, this time in Nicosia.
According to CNA, the head of Cypriot diplomacy will meet on Friday afternoon with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Southern Europe and the Caucasus at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Erika Olson, who arrives in Cyprus on Thursday afternoon and will leave the island on Monday afternoon.
According to the same information, the agenda of Mr. Kasoulides' and Mrs Olson's talks will include, among others, bilateral relations between Cyprus and the USA, the Cyprus problem and the initiatives of the Greek Cypriot side regarding confidence-building measures (CBMs), cooperation in the framework of the 3+1 format (Cyprus, Greece, Israel + USA), and regional developments, following on from what was discussed during the Foreign Minister's contacts with the US Government during his recent visit to the USA.
On Friday morning, the US official will attend a ceremony at the Presidential Palace, during which a Cyprus-US Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement will be signed by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Kyriakos Kokkinos, and the US Ambassador to Cyprus, Judith Garber.
The aim of the Agreement is to join forces to conduct joint scientific activities, studies and other events, such as joint seminars and scientific meetings, and exchanges of scientific and technological personnel, as well as good practices or other activities.
