Out of curiosity, a 62-year-old woman took a bottle of vaccine doses at the Health Center of Servia Doctors realized that the bottle was missing as soon as the 62-year-old woman left the place where the vaccination was taking place and started looking for her

She was curious. She wanted to see what was written on the bottle of vaccine. But she didn't have her glasses with her, so... she decided to put it in her bag and take it with her!

At least that's what the woman who was arrested for stealing, according to doctors, five doses of the coronavirus vaccine from the Health Center of Servia claimed, speaking to MEGA's Live News

"I saw some bottles, which were covered with a cotton ball. The nurse, who gave me the vaccine, left it next to me and went to look at something on the computer with the doctor and another gentleman. I took the bottle to see what it said, but I couldn't see without my glasses so I took it. I figured since she gave me the shot she would throw it away. I didn't know there were more doses in it. I wanted to see what it was. Just out of curiosity," she said."

"I wanted to see what it said on it."

Doctors realized the bottle was missing as soon as the 62-year-old left the area where the vaccination was taking place and started looking for it.

"She was vaccinated while leaving and after being instructed to wait fifteen minutes, she apparently took the vial of remaining doses with her. Immediately the staff became aware of this and walked out. She pleaded with the doctor 'you have to stay in for ten minutes to be monitored' and during the monitoring, she was told that a vial was also missing. She admitted her action and took out the vial and gave it back to us, she returned it to us," explained Lazaros Paschos, head of scientific operations at the Servia Health Centre.

The bottle containing five more doses was returned to the doctors, who had already called the police, reporting its theft.

"Since I didn't see it, I put it in my pocket, I didn't know it had more doses. I wish I knew, I wouldn't even touch it. What should I do with it? Coming out, they turned me back in again, told me there was a little bottle up there and I took it out and showed it to her, I said 'this? She says 'yes, what did you take it for?' and she starts screaming. They called the police immediately, I gave a statement. They put me on an adventure for no reason," the 62-year-old woman claimed.

The case was taken up by the authorities, who were approached by the doctors at the health centre.

"The attempted theft is very serious, especially for vaccines, because the vaccine for us is the only weapon in the pandemic. We thought it appropriate to call the police, the police came and from there the procedures were followed. We would say half an hour until this process was sorted out and we continued vaccination as normal, because for us vaccination is a sacred cause," the doctors at the centre said.

The 62-year-old woman was arrested and initially taken to the police station of Servia, then informed the prosecutor, who, finally, asked to be released.
