[Cyprus Times] Unbelievable and yet! Driving for 70 years without a license

An 84-year-old man was arrested for never having a driver's license or car insurance

It happens even to the best families. And it can happen in Britain which has some of the most strict laws and more police officers on the streets than any other European country.

And yet, the long arm of the law was found to be quite short in the case of an 84-year-old British driver who was caught driving for 70 years without a licence.[/B] As if that wasn't enough, he had never insured his car.

The British driver was not, however, caught at a roadblock or for an offence. But one of the cameras that abound[/B] on the country's roads recorded his number plate and confirmed that he did not have the necessary documents.

The incident took place in the car park of a supermarket, and when the police arrived they could hardly believe what they saw and heard. The 84-year-old told them he learned to drive on his own when he was 12 years old and had been driving around ever since without bothering to get a license.

Not only did he not have a license, he didn't have insurance and even worse, he was so lucky that in all those decades he had never once been stopped for an inspection!

When he was arrested he was driving a Mini One, which means he's changed quite a few cars over those 70 years, which means he knows what he was doing but chose to be an outlaw.

We learn the news from a local police post on social media, without clarifying what the penalty will be. Presumably the car was impounded, as it is very common in Britain, even for much lesser penalties, for the car to be confiscated in addition to all other fines.
