Ukraine appears "cautiously optimistic" that its allies are finally starting to listen to Kiev when it talks about the need to impose sanctions on Russia.
Briefing reporters, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said he would discuss the issue further with his U.S. counterpart Anthony Blinken.
Kuleba also contacted Britain and other countries, asking them to send arms to Ukraine and give it guarantees for the country's future membership of the European Union.
"This morning I sent a letter to the British Foreign Secretary asking her for additional defensive weapons for Ukraine," the minister said, explaining that he made the same request to his American interlocutors. "We will mobilize the whole world to get what we need to strengthen our defense capability," he added."
Kuleba called on the European Union "to put aside the hesitations" and skepticism in European capitals "and give Ukraine the promise of its future accession.
Although he welcomed Berlin's decision to suspend the permitting process for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Kuleba advocated imposing "even stronger sanctions" against Russia.
