Today a video surfaced of Ukrainians inside a shelter in the town of Cherkasy singing their country's national anthem for courage.

The photo of young children gathered close to each other in the Kiev subway brings tears to the eyes. The metro stations are built very deep (it takes many minutes to get off the trains) and are actually built to function as shelters.

At the same time, other citizens of the country are walking in the cold trying to reach Poland.

There is a 40km long tail back of cars & I met people who had walked for more than 10 hours in sub zero temperatures. Many now sleeping in the ice.
