The state of emergency will start at midnight on February 24 and will last for 30 days, according to the relevant decree
The situation in eastern Ukraine resembles a tightrope walk, as Moscow can at any time deploy troops to Donetsk and Lugansk after Putin received official approval from the Russian parliament.
On Wednesday night, in fact, the Ukrainian parliament approved the declaration of a state of emergency throughout the country except for the two eastern regions, where this has been in place since 2014.
This follows a proposal by President Volodymyr Zelensky to declare a state of emergency throughout Ukraine as the country prepares for a possible large-scale attack by Russia.
The state of emergency will begin at midnight on February 24 and last for 30 days, according to the decree.
What is planned for citizens
According to the published draft, a ban on mass gatherings and strikes is proposed.
At the same time, the movement of reservists will be restricted within the country's territory, while a night curfew is also being considered.
According to the same information, checks on personal documents will be carried out,[/B] the production and distribution of information material that could destabilise the situation will be prohibited, and special rules will be imposed on the use of communications and the transmission of information by electronic networks.
"Leader" Donetsk: "Best-case scenario" voluntary withdrawal of Ukrainian forces
What is perhaps of particular importance at this point in time and possibly indicative of Russia's intentions is the warning by Russia-backed Denis Pusilin, leader of the self-declared "People's Republic" of Donetsk.
He says, as reported by the Russian agency TASS, that "the optimal scenario" would be for Ukrainian forces to voluntarily withdraw from the region and take their weapons with them.
