Recep Tayyip Erdogan's office announced early today the morning that the Turkish president had had a telephone conversation with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko to discuss developments regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The two leaders discussed yesterday's talks between Russia and Ukraine, in which no progress was made, and it has not been announced when a new round of negotiations will take place.

Meanwhile, Erdogan told Lukashenko that Turkey will continue to make efforts to end the war and restore peace.

Moreover, yesterday the Turkish president had indicated that his country would not abandon its ties with Russia and Ukraine, adding that he would restrict the passage of ships through the Bosphorus straits and the Dardanelles in order to prevent the escalation of the war.
