In all "parliamentary elections" in the occupied territories until 2013, the turnout rate at the polls exceeded 80% and even reached 93.45% in the 1993 "elections", while in those of 2013 it dropped to 69.41%, Kipris notes.
According to the GMP, after five years it fell even further to 66.14%, meaning the 2020 "presidential elections".
The newspaper also publishes figures in relation to the turnout rates at the ballot box in "parliamentary elections" from 1985 to 2018. Specifically, on 23 June 1985, 95,124 registered, 83,175 voted with a turnout of 87.33%; on 6 May 1990, 101,306 registered, 94,403 voted with a turnout of 93.02%; on 12 December 1993, 107,820 registered, 100,867 voted with a turnout of 93.45%; on 6 December 1998, 122,574 registered, 106,331 voted with a turnout of 88.24%.
On 14 December 2003, 136 registered.596, 121,740 voted with a turnout rate of 85.84%; on 20 February 2005, 147,249 registered, 119,009 voted with a turnout rate of 91.1%; on 19 April 2009, 161,373 registered, 131,849 voted with a turnout rate of 81.70%; on 28 July 2013, 172,803 registered, 119,940 voted with a turnout rate of 69.41%; on 7 January 2018, 190,553 registered, 126,040 voted with a turnout rate of 66.14%.
