The Greek Prime Minister is scheduled to be in the Phanar and the Turkish President is scheduled to be in Istanbul

According to Turkish reports, a meeting between Mitsotakis and Erdogan will take place in Istanbul on Sunday. According to the reports, the two men will have lunch together after the service.

Next Sunday, the prime minister is scheduled to be in Istanbul, specifically at the Patriarchate in the Phanar, to be present at the celebration of Orthodox Sunday.

After the pandemic, it is an opportunity for the first major religious gathering in Istanbul and it is well known that the Prime Minister has close ties both with the Patriarchate and personally with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The Prime Minister will be in Istanbul, therefore, immediately after the informal summit that will take place on Thursday and Friday in Paris.

Next weekend, Tayyip Erdogan is also scheduled to be in Istanbul.

On the Greek side, however, there is, for the moment, no official confirmation or denial of the relevant publications.

"I believe that there will be a common desire to organize such a meeting. After all, we are two countries that make up the southeastern wing of NATO. We have broader international developments to discuss." This is what Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said last week, speaking on Alpha's main newscast, about the possibility of a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in order to discuss the new order that is taking shape after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
