Tragedy in Skiathos An elderly man with dementia "ran over" his wife with his car How the accident happened The 80-year-old man was in bad condition and could not give a statement to the police

A tragedy unfolded in Skiathos with an elderly English couple.

The 83-year-old man, who has dementia problems, lured his 80-year-old wife by car. Specifically, the accident occurred yesterday around 10:00, when the elderly man was preparing to leave the house in his car. Realizing that his wife was going to drive while experiencing health problems, she rushed to prevent him from taking the car. So did his son-in-law. However, the 83-year-old was unconvinced, according to taxydromos.gr.

The elderly man started the car while arguing with his son-in-law. The unfortunate woman got scared, took a few steps backwards and slipped. The 83-year-old man did not realize that she was lying in front of the vehicle and literally ran her over with the car, and then she fell down a slope.

Immediately the Skiathos Health Center was called for help, but when rescuers arrived at the scene they found that the woman was already dead. She was bruised and battered in the head and neck. Police officers also rushed to the scene of the accident and saw the elderly man who did not fully understand what had happened. Later at the police station she was crying and was in a very bad state of mind and was unable to give a statement to the officers.

The 80-year-old was a resident of Great Britain and had been a frequent visitor to the island where she and her husband had kept a holiday home for years. She had always had a very good relationship with the 83-year-old, according to people close to them, with no tensions. The Skiathos Police Department formed a case against her husband for manslaughter by negligence. The elderly man is in custody and will be taken to the Volos Prosecutor's Office today for a statement.
