The body of a little girl, aged 5-6 years, was pulled by rescuers from a river of mud that flooded the streets of Casamiciola, on the island of Ischia, Italy, after yesterday's catastrophic landslide.

With the discovery of the girl's body, the death toll from the tragedy in Ischia has risen to two, as a 31-year-old woman was found yesterday. At the moment, searches are continuing to locate the missing people, who number at least 10, while 13 people have been listed as injured.

The head of Civil Protection has called for caution from citizens for the next 48 hours. As such, the safe evacuation of around 200 people has been arranged. Meanwhile, the cabinet, at its meeting today, decided to immediately allocate 2 million euros to address current needs in Ischia.

Meanwhile, the Meloni government remains embarrassed after yesterday's statement by Matteo Salvini about "8 dead", which was quickly denied by the regional governor of Naples, who did not confirm this information.
