The optimistic scenario for April and the course of the pandemic was discussed in the Cyprus Times by Dr. George Petrikos - What he says about the issue of mask removal and the increased cases of the last few days

A message of optimism regarding the course of the pandemic in our country is sent by the Cyprus Times by Professor of Pathology and Infectious Diseases Dr. George Petrikos

As he notes "despite the fact that we are seeing a new increase in cases in recent days, however, it seems that according to the studies done and the mathematical models next April if there is no new infectious strain, we will have a significant decrease in daily infections."

"April seems to be the month when we will see a big reduction in daily cases, if the studies are verified," he said.

Referring to the increase in cases observed in recent days, he noted that this was mainly due to the three-day period when there were mazic concentrations.

"It is not excluded that we will see a new increase in cases by the end of the week, but what is satisfying is that the situation in the country's hospitals is still manageable and the intensive care units do not have the pressure that existed in the past."

Asked if he thought there should be a new relaxation of measures, he stressed that the current measures are good and should be maintained.

"There is no need to relax any more measures as Easter is coming and we should still continue to be careful and keep our distance," he said.

Time for mask removal outdoors...

Asked about the mandatory use of masks and whether he thinks it is time for some relaxation on this issue, Dr. Petrikos clarified that he proposes to remove the mask from outdoors.

"I will submit this proposal to the next meeting with the Minister of Health, such as removing the mask outdoors and keeping it as long as necessary for indoors," he noted.

Soon he hoped that with the cooperation of citizens we will return to normality.
