Adjustment of measures before the Council of Ministers The time has come to reduce quarantine for covid-positive people Final decisions today

With the plan to adjust the measures in hand, as agreed yesterday with the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee, the Minister of Health is heading to the Presidential Palace.

Michael Hajipanta and scientists yesterday assessed the epidemiological data of the last few days and agreed that the time has come for some additional relaxations.

High on the Health Minister's list, the quarantine chapter. The scientists' recommendation is that the self-limitation days for covid-positive cases be reduced from 10 days to 7.

As reported in yesterday's Cyprus Times, the Council of Ministers, which meets today, is expected to conclude on the allocation of sites based on their risk. These, as is known, are expected to be divided into three categories.

Low-risk premises:

Supermarkets, bakeries, retail outlets, pharmacies etc.

To enter, citizens without a history of vaccination will be required to present a negative 72-hour test while presenting a valid certificate of vaccination or recovery from other citizens.

Medium risk places:

Non-dancing restaurants, cafeterias, hotels, stadiums, theatres, churches, etc.

For entry, citizens without a history of vaccination must present a negative test of 48 hours, while vaccinated and sick citizens must present a valid certificate of vaccination or recovery.

High-risk places:

Entertainment centres, weddings, christenings, etc.

To enter, citizens without a history of vaccination must present a negative 24-hour test, while persons with a valid vaccination or recovery certificate must present a negative 48-hour test.

As suggested by experts, the safepass no longer needs to be a requirement to go to essential places such as supermarkets, bakeries, kiosks and pharmacies.

The recommendations are, as always, put before the Cabinet which will take final decisions. If the body finally gives the green light, the variations are expected to come into effect from next Monday.
